HCS Travel Awards in Imaging and Histochemistry (HCS-TA-IHC)

Award categories and descriptions are as follows:  

Invited Speaker

  1. Activity: Invited scientific or policy presentation to a recognized scientific meeting or science policy event.
  2. Award: Reimbursement up to $5,000 per speaker.
  3. Target: Experienced scientist or subject matter expert.
  4. Requirements:

    1. Award must be approved by the Executive Council of the Society.
    2. Reimbursement after event requires completion and submission of the Histochemical Society Disbursement Request form to the Executive Director of the Society.
    3. A slide or handout must be presented to acknowledge the contribution or sponsorship by the Histochemical Society and the Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry.
    4. Awardee must be a member of the Histochemical Society.
    5. Awardee is encouraged to publish their presentation in the form of a scientific paper or editorial letter in the Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry

Invited Instructor

  1. Activity: Sponsored lecture at a scientific workshop, course, or event.
  2. Award: Up to $3,000 per speaker.
  3. Target: Experienced subject matter expert.
  4. Requirements:

    1. Award must be approved by the Executive Council of the Society.
    2. Reimbursement after event requires completion and submission of the Histochemical Society Disbursement Request form to the Executive Director of the Society.
    3. A slide or handout must be presented to acknowledge the contribution or sponsorship by the Histochemical Society and the Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry.
    4. Awardee must be a member of the Histochemical Society.

Travel Award

  1. Activity: Attend a Society sanctioned workshop, course, or event.
  2. Award: Up to $1,000/individual.
  3. Target: Junior Faculty, Staff Scientist, Post-Doctorate Fellow (or equivalent), graduate student, or advanced undergraduate student.
  4. Requirements:

    1. Award must be approved by the Awards Committee of the Society.
    2. Reimbursement after event requires completion and submission of the Histochemical Society Disbursement Request form to the Executive Director of the Society.
    3. A slide or handout must be presented to acknowledge the contribution or sponsorship by the Histochemical Society and the Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry.
    4. Awardee must be a member of the Histochemical Society.
    5. Awardee is encouraged to report their experiences through social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc.), blog, or a short article to appear on the Society webpage and/or newsletter.
